How to Reconnect With the Woman in the Mirror

Sometimes, you look at yourself and barely recognize the person staring back. Not because you’ve changed physically but because somewhere along the line, you stopped seeing her.

You’ve been busy being everything to everyone. So she, the woman with dreams, opinions, and a soft laugh had quietly slipped into the background.

But she’s not gone. She’s waiting for you to look her in the eye again.

Start with small things: Wear that perfume you love. Revisit the hobby you left behind. Speak kindly to yourself, even if it feels awkward.

Connection doesn’t happen all at once. It’s a slow return through self-awareness, forgiveness, and choosing yourself again and again.

You don’t have to become a new woman. You just need to come home to the one you already are.

Her Wellness Tip:

Take five minutes in front of a mirror today. Compliment one thing about yourself out loud.

Understanding Your Cycle (And How It Shapes Your Energy)

Women are taught early to see their period as an inconvenience. But few of us learn how powerful it actually is, how our cycle quietly choreograph our moods, energy, and focus.

Here’s the simple version:

• Menstrual phase (days 1–5): Your body is shedding and resetting. Energy dips. Go gentle, shorter tasks, longer rest.

• Follicular phase (days 6–13): Energy starts climbing. You’re more creative and motivated. Perfect time to plan or brainstorm.

• Ovulation phase (days 14–16): Confidence peaks. Social energy is high. Schedule that meeting or presentation here.

• Luteal phase (days 17–28): Energy begins to wane again. Focus on finishing tasks and taking emotional care.

When you start aligning your goals with your body’s rhythm, life feels less like a fight and more like a flow.

Her Wellness Tip:

Track your cycle this month and note how your mood and energy shift. Adjust your goals accordingly.

You’re Not Lazy, You’re Probably Just Tired

There’s a quiet shame that comes with feeling unproductive. You sit staring at your to-do list, thinking, “Why can’t I just get it together?”

But here’s something we rarely admit, most women aren’t lazy. We’re tired. Deeply, constantly, soul-level tired. The kind that sleep doesn’t always fix.

It’s the exhaustion of holding everything, work deadlines, emotional labor, family expectations, that pressure to “look okay.” It’s pretending to be fine when you’re actually one load away from breaking.

If you’ve been calling yourself lazy, pause for a second. Ask: What kind of rest do I really need right now? Maybe it’s sleep. Maybe it’s solitude. Maybe it’s permission to do nothing without guilt for one day.

You don’t have to earn rest by running yourself to the ground. You’re allowed to pause just because you’re human not a machine.

Start small. Put your phone down earlier. Say no without explaining. Sit quietly for 10 minutes and do absolutely nothing. You’ll be amazed at how “lazy” starts looking a lot like healing.

Her Wellness Tip:

Put your phone away early and take 10 minutes of silence before bed. Notice how your body feels after true rest.

When Anxiety Wears a Smile

Some women don’t show anxiety through panic or tears. They show it through overworking, overthinking, over caring.

High functioning anxiety rewards you for suffering quietly. But you deserve peace, not just productivity.

Journal Prompt:

What does ‘fine’ usually mean for you? And what would ‘honest’ actually look like?

Your Gut, Your Glow.

How What You Eat Affects How You Feel

Your gut isn’t just about digestion, it quietly affects your mood, focus, and even how well you sleep.

Ever notice how heavy meals leave you sluggish or how stress makes your stomach flip? That’s the gut-brain connection. Your gut constantly chats with your brain. When you eat foods that nourish it, like fruits, vegetables, water, yogurt, it sends calmer signals upstairs.

Her Wellness Tip:

Keep a ‘mood & meal’ journal for one week. Notice what foods make you feel lighter and more focused.

The Guilt That Comes With Rest and Why It’s So Hard to Shake

Ever tried to rest but felt anxious doing it? Like there’s a voice whispering, “You should be doing something right now.” That’s rest guilt and women know it too well.

We’ve been raised to measure our worth by how much we produce or how many people we please. So even when we’re exhausted, we keep pushing. Because resting feels selfish. Or worse, lazy.

But here’s the thing; your body doesn’t care about society’s pace. It will slow you down if you don’t.

Rest isn’t a reward for getting everything done, it’s fuel for doing anything at all.

So maybe today, instead of earning rest, you can just claim it. Take the nap. Watch the show. Sit on your balcony and do absolutely nothing useful.

The world won’t crumble if you stop for a minute. But you might, if you don’t.

Journal Prompt:

When was the last time you rested without guilt? What made it feel difficult to truly pause?

Maintaining your feminine self after childbirth

Maintaining Your Feminine Self After Childbirth

Nobody really tells you how motherhood can swallow your identity in the name of love.

You wake up one day and realise you’ve become “mummy” before anything else. Your body feels different. Your moods feel different. Even your reflection hesitates before recognising you. It’s beautiful but it’s also confusing.

If you’ve ever wondered where the you before childbirth went, you’re not crazy. And you’re definitely not selfish. Wanting to maintain your feminine self doesn’t make you less of a mother. It makes you human.

So maybe this is your gentle reminder:

Your body changed, but it didn’t stop being yours. Don’t wait for a “perfect” moment to care for it. Moisturise your skin. Wear perfume just because. Buy that dress even if it’s not “practical for breastfeeding”. Your femininity is not lost, it just needs invitation.

Let softness return in little rituals. Slow showers. Lip gloss. A playlist that makes you sway in the kitchen. A moment to lotion your legs instead of rushing out of the bathroom with half-wet skin. Nourish the woman in you, not just the mother.

Relearn yourself, don’t chase the old version. You are not who you were before childbirth and that’s not a loss. It’s an evolution. Instead of forcing yourself back into an old identity, ask: “Who am I now, and what makes me feel beautiful today?”

Accept help. Rest is sexy too. There’s nothing attractive about burning out. Let people hold you the way you hold everyone else. Delegating doesn’t reduce your worth, it preserves your glow.

Romance yourself first. Whether you’re partnered or not, make sure love meets you from within. Plan solo dates. Dance in your room. Whisper compliments to your own reflection. A woman who adores herself radiates without permission.

Motherhood may reshape your life, but it doesn’t erase your femininity, it deepens it.

You are not “just a mum.”

You are still you, softer, stronger, layered with stories only your body and heart can tell.

And you deserve to feel beautiful in every version.
