Christianity today has become a familiar identity for many people. We attend church services, sing worship songs, quote scriptures and participate in religious activities. But beyond these outward expressions, have we genuinely surrendered our lives to Christ?
Jesus never called us merely to identify with Him; He called us to follow Him.
In Matthew 16:24, Jesus said, "Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross and follow me."
Following Christ requires more than attending church on Sundays. It demands obedience, sacrifice, forgiveness, humility and a willingness to live according to God's Word, even when doing so is uncomfortable.
Sometimes, we are quick to condemn the sins of others but slow to examine our own lives. We desire God's blessings but struggle with His instructions. We want the promises of Christianity without necessarily embracing the responsibilities that come with discipleship.
Perhaps the greatest challenge facing modern Christianity is not the absence of religious activities but the absence of genuine transformation.
Being a Christian is not simply about what we profess with our lips; it is also about what our lives demonstrate.
So, here is the question for us to reflect on:
If someone observed your daily lifestyle without hearing you mention God or seeing you attend church, would they recognise that you are truly a follower of Christ?
