Leaving someone you love is never easy.
Sometimes, you don't leave because you stopped loving them. Sometimes, you leave because you realize that love alone cannot fix everything.
I met her when I wasn't looking for love. At first, we were just friends, but slowly, we became very close. She became the person I talked to every day. She was the first person I wanted to share my happiness with and the person I ran to whenever I had a problem.
I truly believed I had found someone special.
We made plans together. We talked about our future. We promised each other that no matter what happened, we would always stay together.
But things started changing.
It didn't happen all at once. It happened slowly.
The calls became fewer. The conversations became shorter. The person who once cared about every little thing suddenly stopped asking how I was doing.
I noticed the change, but I kept making excuses for her
I told myself she was probably busy.
I told myself every relationship has difficult moments.
I told myself that if I was patient, things would eventually become better.
So I stayed.
I stayed because I remembered how happy we used to be.
I stayed because I still loved her.
I stayed because I was afraid that leaving meant losing the person I had once imagined spending my future with.
But one day, I asked myself a question:
"How long can I keep living like this?"
That question changed everything.
I realized that I was holding on to the memories of who we used to be instead of accepting who we had become.
I was fighting for a relationship that only one person was trying to save.
And that person was me.
So, I made the hardest decision of my life.
I chose to leave.
It wasn't because I hated her.
It wasn't because I found someone else.
It was because I finally understood that I was losing myself while trying to keep us together.
Walking away was painful. There were days I wanted to go back. There were moments when I missed her and wondered if I had made the wrong choice.
But with time, I began to understand something.
Sometimes, two people can love each other and still not be right for each other anymore.
Sometimes, the person you love is only meant to be a chapter in your life, not the whole story.
I will always be grateful for the good memories we shared. I won't pretend that our love never mattered.
It did.
But I also learned that loving someone doesn't mean you have to lose yourself to keep them.
So, I chose to leave.
And maybe leaving wasn't the end of my love story.
Maybe it was the beginning of a new chapter.
A chapter where I learned to choose myself, protect my peace, and understand that I deserve a love that doesn't make me constantly question my worth.
