The day she stopped begging

Let me share a story with everyone

I've heard of a guy and a lady who had been together for almost four years.

Everyone around them thought they were perfect. They posted pictures together, celebrated birthdays together, and whenever they had misunderstandings, they always found their way back to each other.

But nobody knew what was happening behind the pictures.

Lately, she had started feeling alone in the relationship.

She was always the one checking up on him.

“Have you eaten?”

“Are you home?”

“Why have you been quiet?”

She noticed that his replies became shorter. His calls became fewer. And somehow, she was always the one trying to keep the relationship alive.

One night, she finally asked him:

“Do you still love me?”

There was a long silence.

Then he said, “I don't know.”

Those three words broke something inside her.

She cried that night—not because she wanted to lose him, but because she realized she had been holding onto someone who had already started letting go.

The next morning, she didn't call.

She didn't send a good morning text.

She didn't ask why he hadn't checked on her.

For the first time, she decided to stop chasing.

Days passed.

He eventually called.

“You've changed,” he said.

She smiled sadly.

“No. I just stopped forcing something that should be mutual.”

He went quiet.

She continued, “I loved you enough to fight for us, but I finally realized that love shouldn't require me to beg someone to choose me.”

That was the last conversation they had.

Months later, she was still single, but she was happy.

She had learned something important:

Sometimes, losing someone isn't the worst thing that can happen to you. Sometimes, losing yourself while trying to keep someone is far worse.

And the day she stopped begging for love was the day she finally started loving herself.
