Imagine Imam Bukhari, a revered scholar on a journey by boat, seeking knowledge, with a thousand Dinars in his possession.

A fellow traveler, feigning affection, ingratiated himself with the Imam. During their voyage, Imam Bukhari confided in him, revealing the substantial sum he carried.

The very next morning, chaos erupted! The man feigned immense distress, crying, screaming, and tearing his clothes, claiming he had lost his own thousand Dinars. The ship's crew, alerted to the supposed theft, began a thorough search of all passengers.

Witnessing this, Imam Bukhari, with incredible foresight and a commitment to his honor, discreetly threw his bag of money overboard into the sea, ensuring no one saw him. When his turn came, he was found to have nothing.

After an exhaustive search yielded no results, the authorities reprimanded the man for his false claim. Upon reaching shore, the man, bewildered, approached Imam Bukhari, asking what had become of the money.

"I threw it into the sea," Imam Bukhari replied calmly.

Stunned, the man questioned how he could so easily part with such a fortune.

Imam Bukhari's response was profound:

"O ignorant one, do you not know that I have dedicated my life to gathering the Ahadeeth of the Messenger (peace be upon him), and my trustworthiness is acknowledged worldwide?

Would it be fitting for me to subject myself to an accusation of theft? Shall I sacrifice the precious pearl of my lifetime's knowledge and achievements for a mere handful of Dinars?"
