Groom Calls Off Wedding After Bride’s Pastor Takes Over Planning And Personal Decisions

What began as a sign of faith and spiritual guidance slowly turned into frustration and emotional exhaustion for Mark, a 33-year-old entrepreneur, who recently called off his wedding just weeks to the big day.

According to Mark, his ex-fiancée initially mentioned wanting to “run things by her pastor” a request he respected as part of her spiritual process. As the wedding preparations intensified, so did her constant need to seek her pastor’s approval.

“Every single thing had to be passed through him,” Mark explained. “From the wedding venue to the color of the decoration, to what drinks we would serve nothing could move forward without her saying, ‘Let me ask my pastor.’”

Despite trying to remain patient, Mark admitted it became emotionally draining. “It was no longer our wedding. It felt like I was marrying a church committee,” he added.

The final straw came during a heated argument when she blurted out, “Even my pastor warned me about your character.”

That was all Mark needed to hear. “At that moment, I realized this marriage would never be between two people. I told her to go ahead and marry her pastor if that’s who she truly listens to,” he said.

While the decision to cancel the wedding was not an easy one, Mark says he has no regrets. “Respecting faith is one thing. But when someone else starts controlling your relationship from behind the scenes, it’s no longer healthy.”
