Jason walked into a small restaurant after class, just looking to grab a quick bite. As he scanned the room, his heart stopped.

There, in the corner, sat his dad and across from him was a woman who wasn’t Jason’s mother. She was smiling, holding his dad’s hand and laughing softly. Then Jason watched as his father leaned in and kissed her.

Their eyes met.

His dad’s smile faded instantly. Jason didn’t say a word. He turned and walked out.

That evening, at dinner, the silence was thick. Jason finally looked up and said, “Mom I saw Dad at a restaurant today. He wasn’t alone.”

His mother put down her fork, looked at his father, and quietly left the table.

Jason never spoke of it again.

But nothing at home was ever the same.
