After the Storm

Ese had given up on love. At just 28, she had survived the kind of heartbreak that left her doubting her worth. Left alone during her pregnancy by the man who once swore to love her, she found herself raising her son, Ovie, on her own. It wasn’t easy juggling two jobs, late-night tears and the constant pressure of proving she could do it all without help.

Her life became all about her little boy. Love, for her, was something she gave to Ovie in full. She told herself that was enough. Until one day, while attending a friend’s small business seminar, she met Tega soft-spoken, kind-eyed and deeply interested in community development. He asked if he could walk her to her car and she said yes.

What followed was weeks of casual conversations, laughter and an unexpected friendship that blossomed into something she hadn’t felt in years.

When she finally opened up to him about being a single mum, she expected him to pull away like others had. Instead, Tega leaned in, with understanding, respect and even excitement to meet Daniel. He didn’t see her past as baggage. He saw it as part of her strength.

Six months into their relationship, he told her he loved her. A year later, he proposed not just to her, but also knelt before Daniel, asking if he could be his dad.

Today, Ese is planning a wedding not just as a bride, but as a woman who finally realized that real love doesn’t run away from broken pieces it chooses to stay and rebuild with you.
