According to a report by Arise News on Tuesday, March 31, 2026, former Minister of Aviation, Osita Chidoka, has raised concerns about the direction of Nigeria’s political landscape as the country gradually moves toward the 2027 general elections.

Speaking during an interview on ARISE NEWS, Chidoka described the current political environment as one undergoing significant structural changes.

His remarks come at a time when political parties are beginning to reposition themselves ahead of what is expected to be another highly competitive electoral cycle.

Chidoka pointed to what he described as a period of adjustment within Nigeria’s political system, noting that major parties are responding differently to the evolving situation.

According to him, the People's Democratic Party is currently dealing with internal challenges that have raised questions about its identity and cohesion.

These challenges, he explained, are being shaped in part by ongoing legal disputes and disagreements within the party, which may affect its ability to present a united front in the coming elections.

In contrast, he observed that the All Progressives Congress appears to be focusing on maintaining internal unity while leveraging its position as the ruling party.

Chidoka explained that recent developments within the APC suggest an emphasis on stability and continuity, particularly as the party prepares for future contests.

He noted that the party’s approach to its internal processes reflects a strategy built around cohesion and the advantages that come with incumbency.

The former minister also referred to recent party activities, including conventions and internal gatherings, as indicators of how political strategies are being shaped.

He explained that these events often provide insight into the priorities of political parties, including how they manage leadership issues and prepare for elections.

In his view, the APC has demonstrated a deliberate effort to present a unified structure, while the PDP is still navigating internal uncertainties.

He said, “What we have here is a system reset going on in the country. If you look at the APC primaries, the APC has indicated that they will have cohesion around incumbency. That is what they showed in their convention. They prioritized unity, incumbency, and stability.
