It all started as a fight against godfatherism when Fubara rebelled against Rivers' kingmaker over the imposition of his allies on the government.

Then Wike instigated the state House of Assembly against the Governor, and they started planning his impeachment.

The whole nation then started picking sides. Some supported Wike and said "Agreement is Agreement." Others went for Fubara and vehemently rejected godfatherism, saying "Rivers No Be Lagos" and "Men Mount."

All of a sudden, the political grandmaster and Chief of Armed Forces declared a state of emergency in Rivers and suspended both the executive and legislative arms of government by the power conferred on him. It was shocking, as no one saw it coming.

The Peoples Democratic Party fought tooth and nail, calling the act illegal and even went ahead to challenge it in court.

Some supported the act, stating the fact that it was started by a PDP president, Olusegun Obasanjo.

Tinubu went ahead to appoint a military administrator as the ruler of the mighty Rivers state in the person of Vice Admiral Ibas. And the Rivers stopped flowing for six months.

And then came the reconciliation. Tinubu met with the two warring parties at Aso Rock, where some terms and conditions were stated for Fubara to be returned as the Executive Governor, to which he agreed.

All of a sudden, the majority of Rivers House of Assembly members then defected to the ruling party, citing internal struggles within PDP, and another war started brewing.

To everyone's surprise, Governor Fubara then joined the South South Governors' bandwagon and defected to the ruling party, APC. He made it even more taunting by saying he is the 001 of Rivers APC and that 001 was written on his membership card.

Wike was shocked. He never expected the Fubara he knows to go to that extent. And then APC stalwarts started hobnobbing with Fubara and began subtly mentioning his re-election.

Have Wike and his allies been checkmated? Fubara went further to get the APC national secretary to campaign for both himself and Asiwaju's reelection. That was the straw that broke the camel's back.

Wike has had enough. He immediately put it out that he would be having his media chat in Rivers during the holiday period. At the media chat, there were a lot of outbursts. He made mention that the governor is only the 001 in his ward—Benue style of government where the Governor and the SGF are laying claim to the state party leadership.

He went ahead to say that the agreement for Fubara to be returned to the Red Bricks House was that he wouldn't seek reelection and nothing has changed. And he is the number one Tinubu supporter in Rivers, so whether Fubara is supporting Tinubu's reelection now or not, he still won't get reelected.

To make the issue more serious, the Rivers House of Assembly members returned the 100,000 naira gift that was sent to them by Governor Fubara, stating that it doesn't follow due process.
