Senator Mohammed Sani Musa of Niger East revealed that he would have considered running against the current Governor, Mohammed Umaru Bago, in the 2027 elections if not for the state’s zoning arrangement. According to a report by Daily Trust, the senator highlighted how political zoning continues to shape electoral decisions in Niger State, influencing when and how politicians pursue leadership positions.

According to the report, Senator Musa made this statement during the launch of his foreign scholarship initiative for students in his senatorial district.

The event was held at the All Progressives Congress (APC) secretariat opposite the State Old Secretariat in Minna, showcasing both his commitment to educational development and his sustained political visibility.

The scholarship program, according to Daily Trust, is designed to provide students from Niger East with opportunities to study abroad, highlighting Musa’s focus on human capital development alongside his legislative responsibilities.

During the launch, he also addressed the importance of party unity and the role that individual members play in strengthening the APC at both state and national levels.
