A Nigerian security expert, Dr. Yahuza Getso, has outlined priority measures he believes are necessary to tackle the recent spate of deadly attacks in Jos, insisting that those responsible for the violence are known to authorities and must be confronted directly.

Speaking during an interview on Trust TV, Getso said the violence that has gripped parts of Plateau including a series of coordinated gunmen attacks that left dozens dead and prompted curfews and heightened security alertscan only be halted if leadership takes decisive action based on solid intelligence.

He stressed that confronting perpetrators to their face is critical to dissuade continued violence and that authorities must be clear about who is behind specific incidents in order to respond effectively with law enforcement and community cooperation.

Getso outlined a set of seven essential steps that he believes must be taken to address the causes and actors involved in the Plateau crisis, asserting that accurate identification of culprits is the foundation of any successful security strategy.

According to him, "I think there are seven outlined activities or key things that must be done in order to address the issues in Plateau.

One, like I said, eyeball to eyeball with the leadership of Plateau, that we know who are the perpetrators of every evil act in Plateau, every part of it. So we need to reach out to who they are and deal with them accordingly.
