Former Chief of Army Staff, Tukur Buratai, has stated that Boko Haram financiers are known and still operating within society.

He emphasized that it's not enough to just mention their names, but action should be taken against them.

Buratai made this remark during a television appearance, stressing that various government agencies are aware of these individuals but have not taken sufficient action.

Buratai's comments come amid ongoing efforts to combat Boko Haram's insurgency in Nigeria.

The group has been responsible for numerous attacks, resulting in significant loss of life and displacement of people.

The United States has also taken steps to combat terrorism financing, freezing assets of eight Nigerians linked to Boko Haram and ISWAP.

It's worth noting that Buratai himself has faced allegations of terrorism financing, which he denies.

He has filed a ₦1 billion defamation suit against a retired major-general, Danjuma Ali-Keffi, over claims linking him to Boko Haram.
