El-Rufai's Wife Slams ICPC Over 'Wiretapping' Claim, Says 'You Took My Bank Tokens'

Hadiza El-Rufai, wife of former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai, has poked fun at the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) over allegations that wiretapping equipment was recovered from their Abuja residence.

In a post on X, she wrote, "You forgot to mention that you also took away my bank tokens. I swear to God, they are not wiretapping equipment".

The ICPC had claimed that electronic magnetic devices capable of tapping conversations were retrieved during a search of the El-Rufai's home, but the family denied this, stating that only old personal mobile phones, laptops, and storage devices were seized.

They accused the ICPC of conducting a "circus of chicanery" and attempting to weaponize Nasir El-Rufai's constitutional right to remain silent.

The ICPC is investigating El-Rufai over alleged financial improprieties during his tenure as governor, including loans obtained by the Kaduna State government, procurement processes, and payments to companies and individuals.
