Work is in full swing on the upgrade of the Muhammadu Buhari International Airport, Maiduguri, as the federal government accelerates efforts to transform it into a world-class aviation hub.

The project, which was approved by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in March 2025, marks a major milestone for the North-East region making it the only international airport in the zone.

During a recent inspection visit, the Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, expressed satisfaction with the pace and quality of work, noting that the upgrade reflects the administration’s Renewed Hope agenda to connect every part of Nigeria through modern infrastructure.

Once completed, the Muhammadu Buhari International Airport will boost trade, tourism, and investment opportunities.
