Governor Bala Mohammed of Bauchi State has dismissed claims that he is considering abandoning the Allied Peoples Movement (APM) to become the running mate to former President Goodluck Jonathan in the 2027 presidential election.

The clarification came after a social media post by Nuhu alleged that the Bauchi governor was planning to leave the APM and join a potential Jonathan presidential bid as vice-presidential candidate.

Responding to the speculation, Mohammed reaffirmed that his political focus remains on contesting for the Bauchi South Senatorial District seat under the platform of the APM.

"Thank you for your interest in my political aspirations. However, for the sake of clarity, my focus remains firmly on contesting for the Bauchi South Senatorial District seat under the platform of the Allied Peoples Movement (APM)," the governor stated.

He further urged the public to disregard reports suggesting otherwise.

"Any reports suggesting a different political course should be disregarded as speculative and inaccurate," he added.

The statement appears to be a direct rebuttal to growing rumours linking the governor to a possible Jonathan-led presidential ticket ahead of the 2027 elections.

With political alignments already generating intense debate across the country, Mohammed's response seeks to put to rest speculation about his future plans and reaffirm his commitment to the Bauchi South Senate race under the APM.
