President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has sent a clear and unbothered message to his political detractors, dismissing allegations that his administration is deliberately working to destroy opposition parties ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The President recently addressed the mounting concerns from rival political camps, pushing back against widespread claims that the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) is using state machinery to intimidate politicians into defecting.

Reacting to the ongoing political realignments and the internal crises fracturing traditional opposition platforms, the President maintained a highly relaxed posture regarding the daily attacks on his governance style.

"Critics must talk," the President reportedly stated, noting that it is the natural job of the opposition to scrutinize the government. He humorously added that his detractors accuse him of "killing the opposition" even though he does not wield a weapon to force anyone to join the ruling party.

Tinubu emphasized that he has no desire to govern a one-party state, arguing that a healthy, functioning democracy actually requires a vibrant opposition to challenge and help refine national policies.

However, he urged rival political leaders to look inward and focus on rebuilding their own fractured internal structures, rather than blaming the ruling government for the continuous wave of defections hitting their camps.

As the political maneuvering for the 2027 general elections intensifies, this firm stance signals that the administration is prepared to weather the criticism while remaining solely focused on its economic and political mandate.
