President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has finally appointed new ambassadors, ending an 18-month diplomatic hiatus. The Senate has received a list of three ambassadorial nominees, including Kayode Are from Ogun State, Aminu Dalhatu from Jigawa, and Ayodele Oke

In September 2023, Tinubu recalled all ambassadors, citing funding constraints and a need to restructure Nigeria's diplomatic engagements. The new appointments come after assurances from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs that the country's embassies are functioning well, with chargé d'affaires overseeing daily operations
