Residents of Onikoo community in Moro Local Government Area of Kwara State have appealed to the government for increased security presence following a recent bandit attack in the area.
Sobi FM's Toheeb Omotayo reports that the incident, which occurred around 9 p.m. on Thursday, involved armed men entering the community and firing shots, prompting residents to seek safety.
According to a community elder, Alhaji Aadi Gidado, an elderly woman was outlived during the attack after she was taken out of her home despite her health condition.
He said four persons, including a nursing mother, a child, and two other women, were reportedly abducted during the incident.
Gidado added that the attackers later established contact yesterday, demanding a ransom of N200 million for the release of abducted victims.
A survivor, Sodiq, told Sobi FM that his alert helped notify others, allowing many people to leave the area before the situation escalated.
