Former Deputy Senate President Ovie Omo-Agege has been defeated in the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) Delta Central Senatorial primary election after losing to Onome Bernice Dema in a closely watched contest.

According to the final results, Onome Bernice Dema secured 4,973 votes to emerge as the party's candidate for the Delta Central Senatorial District ahead of the 2027 general elections. Omo-Agege polled 3,853 votes, while Akpodiete received 92 votes and Ineneji garnered 31 votes.

The outcome marks a significant development in Delta State politics, with Dema recording a clear lead over the former Deputy Senate President by 1,120 votes.
