JUST IN: When Yusuf Decided To Leave NNPP, Kwankwasiyya Were Shouting & Saying We Did Wrong _ Mohammed Jamo says

Mar 31 2026

Mohammed Jamo, a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, says Governor Abba Yusuf’s decision to leave the New Nigeria Peoples Party demonstrates that the NNPP is no longer a viable political platform.

In a report shared by CHANNELS TV on Monday March 30 2026, Jamo described recent developments as a vindication of the move by Yusuf and his allies.

He recalled that when Governor Yusuf and several supporters quit the NNPP months ago, they faced intense criticism, particularly from members of the Kwankwasiyya movement. He said critics accused them of abandoning the party at the wrong time, but Jamo argued the unfolding situation has proved otherwise.

Jamo said the decision to exit the NNPP was driven by a desire to preserve the ability to practise politics effectively and to deliver democratic dividends to the people of Kano.

He maintained that the party’s decline made it impossible for them to pursue those goals within the NNPP framework.

His words,

“A few months ago, when Governor Abba Yusuf and some of us decided that the NNPP was no longer a tenable platform for us to continue practising politics, the Kwankwasiyya movement, were shouting and saying we had done the wrong thing.
