JUST IN: Wike Was Just L.G.A Chairman When All Of Us Put Everything We Had Into Building The PDP' - Bode George says

Mar 29 2026

Chief Olabode George, a senior member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Board of Trustees, has weighed in on ongoing tensions within the party, raising questions about the historical contributions of some political actors compared to the party’s founding members.

Speaking in an interview with Arise TV, George appeared to reference Federal Capital Territory Minister Nyesom Wike, emphasizing the disparity between Wike’s early political role and the sacrifices made by the PDP’s founding generation.

“Now, for a long couple of weeks, we’ve been waiting for the small group,” George said. “What were they doing in 1999? We all gave everything we had to create Nigeria’s first political party, but Wike was only a local government chairperson at the time.

He further remarked that the current celebrations within the party “won’t end,” suggesting that ongoing disputes or self-promotion by certain figures should not overshadow the foundational work of the party’s pioneers.

While underscoring the importance of dialogue, George stressed that the PDP leadership would not allow the party to be “held hostage” by individual political ambitions.

He warned that attempts to inflame tensions could lead to consequences beyond the control of those instigating them and insisted that the broader interests of Nigeria and the party must come first.

George also highlighted ongoing reconciliation efforts within the PDP, noting that party elders remain committed to listening to different viewpoints while ensuring that any resolutions benefit both the party and the nation.

He described these senior figures as “mature, dedicated, and determined,” capable of balancing openness to discussion with the authority to safeguard the party’s integrity and the country’s democratic interests.
