Badagry princess and the first Badagry indigene to serve as deputy governor, Damilola Sonayon James has expressed gratitude following her nomination as the Deputy Governorship Candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the 2027 Lagos State governorship election.
She described the nomination as a testament to “endless possibilities” in Lagos and thanked God for guiding her journey, noting her belief that divine grace has directed her steps throughout her career and public service.
She appreciated the leadership of the APC, the Governance Advisory Council (GAC) led by Prince Tajudeen Olusi, and party stakeholders across all levels for the confidence reposed in her.
James also extended appreciation to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his leadership, as well as Lagos State Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu, Dr Obafemi Hamzat, party leaders, traditional rulers, and grassroots supporters across the state.
She further thanked the people of Badagry West, whom she previously served, describing their support as a lasting source of strength and inspiration.
Describing the nomination as a collective honour, she pledged commitment to strengthening progressive governance in Lagos and working alongside the APC candidate, Dr Kadri Obafemi Hamzat, ahead of the 2027 elections.
