2027: APC Has Lost Its Vision and Is Falling Apart — Kayode Fayemi Laments Party Crisis

Posted by Peter Emmanuel

Former Ekiti State Governor, Kayode Fayemi, says the All Progressives Congress (APC) has lost its direction and is currently facing internal crisis and decline in ideological focus.

Fayemi made the remarks on Thursday during an interview on State Affairs, a podcast hosted by Edmund Obilo.

Speaking on the ongoing nationwide party primaries, Fayemi said the growing reliance on consensus-building within the APC is a sign of deeper structural problems in the party.

According to him, the lack of internal debate and intellectual engagement within the party shows that APC has moved away from its founding principles and vision.

“There’s no intellectualism in the APC because there’s no debate in the party,” he said, adding that the situation reflects a departure from what the party originally stood for.

He further stated that he had earlier expressed similar concerns during a Southwest party conference in Lagos, where he warned that the party was drifting away from its original foundation.

Fayemi also criticised what he described as the increasing tendency of party members to rely on consensus arrangements, which he said indicates internal weakness rather than unity.

“It’s unfortunate that people are running to Aso Rock asking or begging for consensus. The inability to reach a consensus is implosion,” he said, warning that such trends point to a party in decline.
