President Tinubu held a high level phone discussion with German Chancellor Friedrich Merz focused on security collaboration, electricity generation, and infrastructure. Central to the talks was reviving a delayed Siemens backed power project intended to expand Nigeria’s electricity capacity to over 11,000 megawatts. Financing support from Deutsche Bank and Germany’s commitment to continue technical cooperation were also highlighted. Tinubu further requested used German helicopters to strengthen Nigeria’s security operations in the unstable Sahel region. The engagement reflects ongoing diplomatic efforts to boost energy reliability, security capabilities, and economic cooperation between both countries. �
