Adamawa State Governor, Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, has officially defected from the Peoples Democratic Party to the ruling All Progressives Congress. He announced the decision in a statewide broadcast, saying the move was taken to promote development and align the state with the federal government’s agenda.

The defection was not individual. Commissioners, lawmakers, and party officials across the 21 local government areas reportedly moved with him, consolidating the APC’s political control in the state.

The shift has major national implications. Analysts say it weakens the opposition base in Adamawa and strengthens the ruling party ahead of future elections.
