Nollywood actress and politician’s wife, Regina Daniels, has joined millions of Nigerians in reflecting on the nation’s 65th Independence anniversary, mixing humor, nostalgia, and patriotism in a video shared online. Eyes Of Lagos reports,

With a playful smile, Daniels quipped that Nigeria is now “older than her husband,” billionaire businessman and politician Ned Nwoko, before recalling fond memories of her childhood Independence Day celebrations.

Childhood Memories of Independence Day

The actress reminisced about how Independence Day used to be a major event in schools and communities, with children proudly dressed in green and white, marching through the streets while singing the national anthem. She expressed hope that younger generations would continue to embrace the spirit of patriotism.

“I remember those days when Independence Day was celebrated everywhere. Every child dressed in green, doing march-past, singing the national anthem. I hope it’s still the same today, because that practice brought so much joy and unity,” she said.

Struggles With the Old National Anthem

At one point in the video, Daniels humorously attempted to recite the old national anthem but stumbled over the lyrics. Laughing at herself, she admitted her mistakes but still declared her love for the patriotic tradition.

Despite her blooper, Regina affirmed that the practice of instilling national pride through anthem recitations and Independence Day parades remains an important cultural legacy.
