Babcock University has publicly distanced itself from forged certificates circulating online, amid widespread social media discussions surrounding a certificate allegedly linked to Nigerian entertainer Carter Efe.

In a fraud alert issued by the institution, the university warned members of the public against fake academic documents bearing its name, emphasizing that some of the certificates in circulation contain obvious errors that do not align with its academic standards.

The university stated:

"FRAUD ALERT. Babcock University warns the public of forged certificates in circulation, including fake 'Honorary' ones with a non-existent 'First Class Upper' classification. We DO NOT issue such documents. 'First Class Upper' doesn't exist here. Legal action underway."

The statement comes after a certificate purportedly belonging to Carter Efe gained traction across social media, sparking debates about its authenticity. While the university did not mention any individual by name in its notice, its clarification has fueled public scrutiny over documents currently being shared online.

One of the university's key clarifications was that it does not award a degree classification known as "First Class Upper," describing the designation as non-existent within its grading system. The institution also rejected the use of unauthorized honorary certificates bearing its name.

Babcock University further disclosed that it has commenced legal action against those responsible for producing and circulating the forged documents, reiterating its commitment to protecting the integrity of its academic records.

The development has intensified conversations online, with many Nigerians calling for greater verification of academic credentials and cautioning against the spread of unverified documents on social media.

As of the time of writing, Carter Efe has not publicly responded to the university's fraud alert, and the institution has not specifically identified any individual in its statement.
