"I Believe Poco Lee Is Innocent" — Burna Boy Speaks Out On Dancer's Reported UK Arrest, Vows To Push For His Release

Grammy-winning singer Burna Boy has broken his silence on the reported arrest of Nigerian dancer and singer Poco Lee in the United Kingdom, saying he believes his colleague is innocent and is working to secure his release.

In a statement posted to his Instagram story on Wednesday, Burna Boy said Poco Lee personally contacted him to inform him of the arrest, prompting him to immediately begin reaching out to his contacts in the UK, despite being outside the country at the time.

He described the situation as deeply distressing, adding that he is currently in the UK himself and that the matter remains under active investigation.

Based on the information available to him, Burna Boy said he believes Poco Lee did not commit the alleged offence, describing him as someone who has always shown immense respect and loyalty.

He said he could not remain silent while his colleague goes through the situation, and disclosed that efforts are underway to secure his release, expressing confidence that this would be achieved by the following day.

He closed the statement by saying he was fully committed to seeing the matter through to its conclusion.

Reports of Poco Lee's arrest, whose real name is Iweh Pascal Odinaka, first surfaced online this week, with multiple Nigerian entertainment outlets citing an allegation of a sexual offence in the UK.

Key details, including the identity of the person who made the allegation, the exact circumstances and whether formal charges have been filed, have not been independently confirmed by any UK police force, court or prosecutorial body, and the claim has largely circulated through unofficial reports and social media.

Separately, a Texas-based rapper who goes by Ms Jorji had earlier accused Poco Lee of attempting to assault her and a companion roughly two years ago, an allegation that resurfaced online as reports of the UK arrest spread.

She has since responded publicly to critics questioning her account, maintaining her version of events amid the wider controversy. It remains unclear whether her allegation is connected to the reported UK arrest or represents a separate matter.

Poco Lee had not issued any public statement addressing either the arrest reports or the allegations as of the time of Burna Boy's post, and his most recent social media activity prior to the story breaking dated back to August 16.

Other associates of the dancer, including Tunde Perry, had also come out in his defence in the days before Burna Boy's statement, describing the allegations as inconsistent with the person they know.

No UK police force or court has issued an official statement confirming an arrest, meaning the underlying claim remains unverified through formal channels even as Burna Boy's intervention has significantly amplified public attention on the matter.

As of the time of this report, it remains unclear what specific steps Burna Boy or his team have taken toward securing Poco Lee's release, or what the current status of any investigation is.
