I honestly expected so much more from this movie based on the way it was advertised, especially since some of my favorites were part of the cast.

Unfortunately, I couldn’t even make it past the first 30 minutes. The storyline just didn’t pull me in, and I wasn’t invested enough to keep watching.

Overall, it was a no for me. Sometimes having a star-studded cast isn’t enough if the story doesn’t deliver.

If I had seen this poster beforehand, I probably wouldn’t have bothered watching it.

We still have a long way to go when it comes to making solid action movies. No offense, but seeing Zubby Michael as an action star already had me expecting more comedy than action. 😂

Safe to say, I didn’t enjoy the movie. It just wasn’t for me.

I can’t believe I rewatched Blood Sisters Part 1 because I was genuinely looking forward to Part 2 and thought they’d do a great job with it.

Unfortunately, I felt Part 2 was all over the place. The storyline wasn’t as strong, and it just didn’t come together the way I expected.

Let's start with Gingerrr and The Herd sitting level at the top. Nine nominations each is not a coincidence — these are the two films AMVCA is clearly most excited about. But here's the uncomfortable truth: when two juggernauts collide at the same ceremony, they split the room, split the votes, and split the glory. One of them is walking away feeling robbed. History says the film with the loudest cultural moment wins. History also says AMVCA doesn't always get it right.

To Kill A Monkey with 8 nominations is arguably the most dangerous film in the room. It's not the loudest, but it has William Benson in the Best Lead Actor category delivering what many critics quietly agree is the performance of the year. Eight nominations is enough firepower to make a statement. But eight nominations with zero wins on the night? That's the kind of result that haunts a filmmaker.

And then there's My Father's Shadow — 7 nominations, serious storytelling, and absolutely zero hype compared to the other three. This is the film that film people love and award shows overlook. If it walks away with one or two trophies, everyone will be surprised. If it walks away with nothing, nobody will even talk about it. That silence is its own kind of injustice.

The real question isn't who wins. It's who gets seven nominations, sits through a four-hour ceremony, and goes home with a participation memory. Because on May 9, that is going to happen to somebody. And it's going to hurt.

The nominees are out. The category is stacked. And somebody is about to go home empty-handed on May 9 — probably more than one person who genuinely deserved it.

The Best Lead Actor race this year features eight names: Mike Ezuruonye (Oversabi Aunty), Lateef Adedimeji (Lisabi: A Legend Is Born), William Benson (To Kill A Monkey), Kanayo O. Kanayo (Grandpa Must Obey), Khumbuza Meyiwa (Bet I Love You), Uzor Arukwe (Colours of Fire), Wale Ojo (3 Cold Dishes), and Femi Branch (Red Circle). Eight men. One trophy. And the politics of AMVCA will decide who gets it.

Let's be real — Kanayo O. Kanayo is a legend, a living institution, and his name alone commands respect. But legends don't always win awards. They get nominated as a nod and then watched in silence as someone younger walks to the stage. If KOK goes home without that trophy again, it will be the biggest snub in Nollywood award history. Full stop.

Then there's Lateef Adedimeji, who is somehow nominated in both the Best Lead Actor and Best Supporting Actor categories — for different films. The man had an entire year while the rest of Nollywood was filming. If he doesn't win at least one of them, somebody needs to explain the judging criteria from scratch.

Wale Ojo in 3 Cold Dishes delivered one of the most quietly devastating performances Nollywood has produced in years. The kind of acting that doesn't scream — it just sits with you. And that's exactly why he probably won't win. AMVCA has never been shy about rewarding noise over nuance.

Uzor Arukwe in Colours of Fire is another one who deserves more than just a nomination and a round of applause. He's been consistently excellent, consistently nominated, and consistently overlooked. At some point that pattern stops being coincidence.

Femi Branch is a crafted, deliberate actor who quietly outperforms expectations every single time. But Red Circle didn't get the cultural noise that Lisabi or Gingerrr got — and in an awards season that rewards buzz as much as brilliance, that matters more than it should.

Someone in this category is going to deliver a speech. Seven others are going to clap. May 9 will tell us everything we already suspected about how these awards really work.

I had high hopes for this movie because of the crazy advertising that was done for it.

But in my opinion it was just filled with a lot of actors with no content.
