NYSC Camp Guide: DIFFERENCES BETWEEN FITNESS CERTIFICATE & MEDICAL REPORT

One of the most common mistakes PCMs make is confusing a Fitness Certificate with a Medical Report. Although both are medical documents, they serve different purposes in the NYSC process.

Fitness Certificate

A Fitness Certificate is compulsory for every PCM during orientation camp registration. It must be issued by a government or military hospital after a basic medical examination to certify that you are fit for camp activities.

Medical Report

A Medical Report is not required for camp registration. It is only needed for special cases such as:

  • Medical redeployment (relocation)

  • Camp exit

  • Other health-related requests

This report should be issued by a doctor who is familiar with your medical history.

⚠️ Important Update

PCMs are advised to ensure their Medical Fitness Certificate includes proof of Cerebrospinal Meningitis (CSM) vaccination, as this has been highlighted as part of the camp medical requirements.
