July 2023, I got out of camp and headed straight to my ppa in one of the local governments in Delta state. It was a dilapidated school. The other corp members there were welcoming, even fine babes dey among them, but when I saw the lodge, I knew right then in my heart that I could not survive there.

However, I still met with the principal who took my letter and, without even asking, told me I am going to be teaching mathematics. My course of study has nothing to do with maths. In fact, I had not done maths for the past 5 years in school. But you know these secondary school principals and their theory of "a corper ought to know every subjevt"

Mind you, the corpers at the Lodge warned me not to accept mathematics as I will be in charge of teaching Js 1 to SS 3

So, as the principal mentioned Mathematics, that was when I remembered one tiktok video where the girl said she faked being an imbecile just so she can be rejected from her ppa. The principal had already seen that i was not an imbecile so that was out of the question. Omo, na stammer i start to stammer as he dey ask me questions o. I am a good actor, at least from the numerous stage plays, back as a teenager in church. Only to introduce myself, I stammer so tey I start to slap my lap with force.

The man was so devastated, the look he and his secretary exchanged almost made me break character but I was ready to keep up the act as long as it worked. Thankfully, it did.

He immediately rejected me after hissing loudly and said they should post me to school of children with special needs.

I sha collected my rejection letter and ran back to the LGIs office.

I got a new ppa, better than the last one, and that was where I served
