Getting posted to Delta State is exciting, but settling into a new environment comes with its own adjustments.
For corps members heading to the Issele-Uku Orientation Camp, here are a few things to expect:
📌 Food:Get ready to explore local delicacies like Banga soup, Owo soup, starch and Ukodo. You’ll also find familiar Nigerian meals and food options at the camp Mami Market.
📌 Weather: Expect warm, humid conditions. Stay hydrated and prepare for occasional rainfall.
📌 Camp Life: Be ready for early morning drills, parade activities, lectures, skills acquisition programmes and platoon competitions.
📌 Movement: Familiarise yourself with Issele-Uku and available transport options before travelling around.
📌 Making Connections:
Meet people, learn about the local culture and build friendships that can make your service year memorable.
Remember, your Delta State experience goes beyond orientation camp. Keep an open mind and enjoy the journey!
Have you served in Delta State or attended Issele-Uku camp? Share one thing incoming corps members should know about the food, camp life or the community.
