So last term I got to school ready to just teach my French class, that's it, that's the plan. Before I even drop my bag well, the VP calls me: "Corper, please help type this exam for JS2, Principal wants it before assembly."

I'm not even fully seated when another teacher rushes in: "Ah Corper you're around! Debate club needs a moderator this afternoon, Mr. Chukwu traveled." Okay, noted.

Then somehow I'm also asked to update the notice board with the inter-house sports list. Mind you, I still haven't taught French to a single class yet.

By the time I actually get into class to teach je suis, tu es, il/elle est, someone knocks: "Sir, VP says come take register for another class, teacher's not around."

I go, I come back, I continue the lesson. Barely finish before I'm being called to referee this heated debate about whether social media is doing more harm than good (the girls were NOT holding back).

Somehow, by the end of the day the exam was typed, the register was taken, the notice board was updated, and the debate had a winner. And then, as I was literally packing up: "Corper, tomorrow help us supervise mock exams too."

NYSC really said: teacher, typist, referee, and professional last minute miracle worker. All in one lanyard. 😩
