MY PPA WANTED TO TURN ME INTO A PERMANENT STAFF

I thought NYSC was just 12 months of service.

My PPA had other plans.

On my first day, my supervisor smiled and said: “Corper, don't worry. We are family here.”

That was the first red flag. 😂 By the second week, I was doing the work of three people.

By the third week, my boss had discovered the magical word:

“URGENT.”

“Gideon, this report is urgent.”

“Gideon, print this document, it's urgent.”

“Gideon, we need this before closing.”

One afternoon, around 4:45pm, I was already packing my bag. My boss suddenly appeared.

“Corper, where are you going?”

I said, “Sir, closing time is 5pm.”

He looked at me like I had just committed a federal offence.

“Are you watching the time?”

I quietly looked at the clock again.

4:47pm.

He dropped a pile of files on my table.

“Just help me finish these before you go.”

I looked at the files.

Then I looked at him.

Then I looked at my transport money.

At that moment, I realized something:

NYSC allowance was not enough to survive this PPA. 😂😭

The funniest part?

The next morning, I arrived at 7:58am.

My boss looked at his watch and said:

“Corper, you are late.”

I almost resigned from NYSC that morning. 😂😂

But somehow, I survived.

Today, whenever someone asks me about my NYSC experience, I don't remember CDS first.

I remember my PPA.

The files.

The “urgent” assignments.

The late closing.

And that famous sentence:

“Corper, you're like family here.” 😂😭

If your PPA has ever made you question your life choices, drop your story in the comments.

Let's know who suffered the most. 😂👇

And please tag that one corper whose PPA has practically adopted them. 😭😂
