Not every PPA experience will be smooth. Sometimes, you may have disagreements with your supervisor, misunderstandings with colleagues, or feel like you're being treated unfairly.
But how you handle these situations matters.
Here are a few things to keep in mind:
✅ Stay professional: Even when you're upset, avoid reacting in a way that could make things worse.
✅ Communicate calmly: Explain your side respectfully and give the other person a chance to speak.
✅ Know your responsibilities: Understand what is expected of you and keep records of important instructions when necessary.
✅ Don't suffer in silence: If the situation becomes persistent, unfair, or involves harassment, seek guidance from the appropriate PPA or NYSC officials.
Remember, your service year is temporary, but the lessons you learn about handling people and difficult situations can stay with you long after POP.
Have a PPA experience taught you how to handle difficult people? Share it with the community. Someone might learn from your experience. 💚
