The promise I made to myself

I promised myself to step out of every shadow,

To draw my spirit into light

Whenever life bends me toward darkness.

I promised to guard my dreams

and labour

until they breathe in reality

Every force that seeks to distort my design

Shall be ignored like crumpled paper

Every hopeful face

That sharpens the edge of my vision

Shall be welcomed with opened arms

I will kindle the fire within me

Even when the strain weakened my nerves.

And my soul feels heavy with doubt

The quiet whispers inside keep my shapes

in order

Until my structure glances in riches

And my mind rests in its earned glory.
