Nottingham Forest are set to add a free agent to their squad in the coming days, according to reports - with out of contract goalkeeper Angus Gunn having agreed a deal to move to the City Ground, to join Nuno Espirito Santo's men on their Premier League and European crusade.

Forest have had quite a quiet transfer window by their own standards, securing the signatures of Botafogo's Brazilian duo Igor Jesus and Jair Cunha at the start of July, whilst Dan Ndoye joined from Bologna in a £34.5million deal to replace Newcastle United-bound Anthony Elanga. With Danilo departing, alongside the likes of Andrew Omobamidele, Ramon Sosa, Lewis O'Brien and Matt Turner, Forest have made a profit this window, despite qualifying for the Europa League after a seventh-placed finish.

The goalkeeper will play backup to Matz Sels in the east Midlands alongside Carlos Miguel.

However, it's the departure of Turner to Lyon on Friday that has forced owner Evangelos Marinakis' hand in the free market - with Gunn set to join on a free transfer. Fabrizio Romano has stated on X (formerly Twitter) that the Reds will sign the 29-year-old on a free transfer, joining up with their squad with immediate effect.

The Scotland international, dubbed 'perfect' in his appearances for the Tartan Army, has been out of contract since leaving Norwich City at the end of June, where he's been featuring in the PFA's 'unattached' side to build match fitness.

And now he's set for a move to the City Ground, where he will play backup to Matz Sels, who had an outstanding campaign for Forest last time out. Gunn, who formerly plied his trade at Southampton, had been at Norwich for four years, racking up 114 league appearances for the Canaries in the process.

Starting his youth career at Manchester City, the 29-year-old didn't make an official appearance for the first-team, instead joining Norwich on loan, forging a permanent move to Southampton in 2018. He played 22 Premier League games for the Saints, before joining Norwich again in 2021.

Nine more Premier League outings saw them relegated, where he became their first-choice goalkeeper over the course of three seasons before his release at the end of the season, opting for a return to the top-flight with European side Forest.
