Brighton star Joao Pedro and Moises Caicedo reacted to an announcement on social media from a new Chelsea player.
The Ecuadorian midfielder played 84 minutes during the Blues’ first match of their Club World Cup (CWC) campaign.
Chelsea beat MLS side Los Angeles FC 2-0, although the side from LA gave the Blues a tough time, on Monday evening (16 June).
Caicedo and his teammates were forced to endure an awkward pre-match introduction before being made to work for the three points by their opponents.
However, despite the affair being an uncomfortable one, Enzo Maresca will have been pleased to see his side, and a player who is set to join the club after the tournament, play as well as they did.
Estevao signed for Chelsea back in June 2024, but due to his age, he was not set to join the Premier League club until this summer.
Thanks to the revamped CWC tournament, the Blues decided to allow the Brazilian winger to participate with Palmeiras before making the switch to the West London club.
That decision looks to be paying dividends, as Estevao is getting regular minutes and making the most of them.
The Brazil international shared several images on Instagram after his club drew with Portuguese side Porto 0-0, captioned: “God is good all the time, Superior player of the match”, referencing his award from the draw on Sunday.
