Liverpool could opt for a riskier approach in their attempts to sign Bradley Barcola this summer. The Paris Saint-Germain winger is the Reds' number one target, but a deal to clinch his signature has yet to be completed.

Andoni Iraola has overseen a somewhat quiet transfer window in his opening months as Liverpool boss, having only brought in Victor Munoz and Ronald Araujo. The Spaniard will be hoping he can seal further arrivals before the window slams shut on September 1.

Iraola is also deep in preparation for the Reds' Premier League season-opener on Sunday away to Newcastle United. Amid the reported riskiness that Liverpool could utilise in their chase of Barcola, Rio Ngumoha is already primed for a major switch this season.

The fee for Barcola remains to be the sticking point between PSG and Liverpool, it has been claimed. The French champions had reportedly valued the 23-year-old at £145million, with the Reds unwilling to do a deal at that price.

This has led to Liverpool playing something of a waiting game, in the hope PSG's own transfer business helps lower the price for the Frenchman. The Ligue 1 champions have subsequently sealed the arrivals of Maghnes Akliouche, Ferran Torres and Mika Godts, softening their stance on keeping hold of Barcola.

French outlet Jeunes Footeux [via Liverpool.com] reports PSG have now reduced their asking price for Barcola, vindicating the Reds' risky transfer tactic. But journalist Ben Jacobs has said on talkSPORT [via This Is Anfield] that the Premier League giants could take a risk if they continue to try and wait out the possible deal until the final days of the window to force PSG to lower their asking price further.

Ngumoha switch

Barcola's possible arrival will see the France international play in his favoured left-wing position, which would cause Nguomha to earn most of his game time on the right flank, according to The Times. The Reds have yet to replace Mohamed Salah this summer, but it is claimed the 17-year-old is the likely candidate to succeed the Egyptian.

Ngumoha has featured on the right wing a considerable amount during pre-season and started in the role in the club's final friendly against Como on Sunday. Versatility from wingers is something Iraola requires and previously had at Bournemouth, with the likes of Antoine Semenyo and Dango Ouattara often deployed in different roles.

Ngumoha admitted he's practised adapting his game on the opposite wing. He explained: "All the coaching staff are just telling me to play my normal game really, whether that’s going inside or outside. I’ve been working on it in training anyway, playing on the right and the left. Just being unpredictable really."
