‎His Uncle Made Him Work for His School Fees

My cousin got admission last year and went to his uncle for financial help. His uncle admitted that he couldn't afford to pay for everything, but offered him another option: defer his admission and use one of his motorcycles to make deliveries, then remit ₦35,000 every week from the income.

‎My cousin felt terrible about the idea at first, but eventually accepted. For more than a year, he used the motorcycle to make money and faithfully sent ₦35,000 every week. When he got admission again, he went back to his uncle, expecting another difficult conversation.

‎

‎Instead, his uncle handed him an ATM card and told him to withdraw every ₦35,000 he had remitted since the previous year. He had kept all the money aside for him. After more than 72 weeks of payments, his uncle was essentially giving him his savings back to help him sort out school expenses.

‎

‎Sometimes, what looks like punishment or hardship can actually be someone's way of teaching you responsibility while secretly preparing you for the future.

‎

‎If you were in his shoes, would you rather have an uncle who simply paid your school fees, or one who made you work for it and then returned your money to you later?
