The Quiet Signs a Child Is Overwhelmed
Sometimes it’s not the tantrums you should watch for, it’s the silence. The way a normally chatty child grows quiet, or how their drawings suddenly lose color. Kids don’t always say, “I’m stressed,” but their bodies and behavior whisper it.
It might show up as headaches, clinginess, changes in sleep, or sudden disinterest in things they used to love. And honestly, it’s easy to miss, especially in a busy home or classroom.
The goal isn’t to fix it right away. It’s to notice. Sit beside them. Offer calm instead of correction. Children don’t need us to have all the answers, they need us to listen long enough for their feelings to feel safe.
You don’t need to be a perfect parent to raise an emotionally secure child. You just need to be present.
Parent Tip:
Ask your child one gentle question tonight: “What was the hardest part of your day?” Then just listen, no judgment, no advice yet.
