Microsoft announced an additional $4 billion investment to build a second artificial intelligence (AI) data center in Mount Pleasant, Wisconsin, bringing its total investment in the state to more than $7 billion. This expansion was announced on Thursday, September 18, 2025, during an event with Governor Tony Evers and other local leaders. The new data center will be constructed on land once designated for the controversial Foxconn factory that never materialized.
Microsoft claims that once the expanded campus is complete, it will house the most powerful AI supercomputer in the world. This system will use hundreds of thousands of Nvidia microchips and will be used to train next-generation AI models.
