Education stakeholders across Nigeria are calling for urgent reforms to integrate skills-based learning into the primary and secondary school curricula, emphasizing the need to equip students with practical, market-relevant skills.

The proposal, gaining wide support among educators, policymakers and industry experts, aims to shift focus from theory-heavy education to hands-on learning in areas such as digital literacy, entrepreneurship, agriculture, creative arts and vocational training.

According to stakeholders, the move will better prepare Nigerian youths for the demands of the modern workforce and reduce unemployment by fostering self-reliance and innovation from an early age.

The reforms are expected to be discussed further at the upcoming National Council on Education meeting later this year.
