It was an ordinary lecture day at Lagos State University until the unexpected happened, a surprise marriage proposal right in the middle of a packed hall. A final-year student, identified only as Femi, paused a lecture after getting permission from the lecturer, walked up to his girlfriend of three years and went down on one knee.

Students erupted in cheers, chants and phone flashes as he presented a sparkling ring. His girlfriend, visibly shocked, covered her face before nodding “Yes” amid applause. Social media has since been flooded with videos of the heartwarming moment, with many praising Femi’s courage while others teased him about “securing admission for two into marriage.”

The couple says they plan to wed after graduation, making this one of the most talked-about moments on campus this semester.
