Once upon a time in Willow Wood there was a little fox named Milo. Milo loved to run and explore. Every morning his teacher, Mrs. Owl, would hang a bright bell on the big maple tree and say, "Forest rules help everyone stay safe. Listen carefully."

The rules were simple:

- Stay on the path.

- Look both ways before crossing the stream.

- Ask before taking someone else’s berry.

- Come back when you hear the bell.

One sunny day Milo saw a shiny feather on the other side of the stream. It sparkled like a tiny moon. Milo wanted to pick it so much that he slipped off the path and jumped toward the feather without looking.

Splash! Milo tumbled into the stream. He coughed and shook his fur, and his friends—Tessa Turtle and Ben Bunny—hopped over to help. Tessa held Milo’s paw while Ben ran to fetch Mrs. Owl. Mrs. Owl arrived quickly and used a long branch to help Milo climb out.

Milo felt embarrassed and a little scared. "I should have waited and looked both ways," he said, voice small.

Mrs. Owl smiled kindly. "Rules are like a map and a warm blanket," she said. "They keep you safe and help us help each other. But it’s okay to make mistakes—what matters is that we learn from them."

The next day, the bell rang again. Milo stayed on the path, looked both ways before crossing, and asked Ben if he could borrow a bright red leaf instead of taking someone else’s. When they finished playing, Milo ran back to the maple tree right on time.

That evening, as the sun went down, Milo curled up in his den. He thought about the feather and the stream and how his friends helped him when he forgot the rules. He decided that he would listen, ask questions if he didn’t understand, and help others remember, too.

And from then on Milo learned that listening wasn’t about giving up fun—it was about keeping adventures safe and sharing them with friends.

Moral: Listening to rules keeps you and your friends safe, and it’s okay to ask questions if you don’t understand.
