BOUND TO GET BURNT - Proverbs 6:27
Mr. Charles had a long, exhausting day at work.
All he wanted was a hot shower, a quiet dinner, and sleep.
But as soon as he came downstairs, his little daughter Binta tugged at him.
“Daddy, please can you put on the generator so we can watch TV?”
He tried to ignore her — he was drained — but Binta persisted, and his wife quietly supported her.
Reluctantly, Mr. Charles went to the backyard.
Still tired and a little irritated, he switched on the generator and noticed the fuel was low.
So he grabbed the container and hurriedly refilled it.
He didn’t notice that some fuel had spilled onto the hot metallic parts.
The moment he turned to leave, fire flashed.
That’s all he remembered.
Mr. Charles woke up in a hospital bed — his hands, face, and feet badly burnt.
Just like that fuel meeting heat,
the little things God asks us to drop—
habits, conversations, secret sins, attitudes—
can burn us when we ignore them.
They don’t look dangerous at first…
but left unattended, they can cause damage, shame, delay, and even destroy destinies.
Dear beloved,
don’t get burnt like Mr. Charles.
Don’t self-destruct.
Lay aside the things that scorch the soul.
Go to Jesus for cleansing and strength.
Don’t embrace the fire.
Shalom💙
