The Editor’s Red Pen
Lydia’s life was a manuscript bleeding with red ink. She crossed out "lazy Sunday" and wrote "missed opportunity." She deleted "happy" and replaced it with "could be better." By the time she reached the end of the year, her story was grammatically perfect, but there wasn't a single soul left in the sentences.
