When Faith Meets Love: Adaku’s Journey to Motherhood

Adaku and Moses had been married for nine years, a beautiful, loving marriage, but with one silent ache, they had no children. They had undergone countless medical tests, each time hearing the same words: “There’s nothing wrong with either of you.” They tried treatments, sought second opinions and even went through the emotional and physical toll of IVF twice, yet the result was always the same. Nothing.

Adaku was devastated. She often cried in silence, feeling broken, wondering if something was wrong with her soul even when science said she was fine. Moses, ever gentle and supportive, would hold her close and whisper:

“I didn’t marry you just to have children. I married you because I love you and if it comes to it, we can adopt. As long as we’re together, we’re already a family.”

One day, Adaku’s friend invited her to a church program. She went half curious, half desperate needing something to shift. During the prayer session, the pastor unexpectedly called her out from the crowd and prayed earnestly for her. Something about that moment stayed with her. When she got home, she told Moses about it and asked if they could both attend a full Sunday service at the church. Moses agreed. After the service, the couple visited the pastor in her office. To Adaku’s surprise, the pastor said, “I’ve been trying to reach you. God has shown me something, someone close to your mother is holding you back.”

Adaku was stunned. She couldn’t imagine anyone in her family wishing her harm. “None of my mother’s relatives would do such a thing,” she replied in disbelief. The pastor gently said, “Pray sincerely, and God will reveal it to you.”

For one full week, Adaku fasted and prayed, pouring out her heart like never before. One afternoon, as she reads her Bible, she drifted off to sleep and had a dream. In it, she saw Aunty Chiaka, her mother’s favorite cousin, chasing her through a dark path. She woke up in a cold sweat, heart racing and called the pastor:

“I think I know who it is. It’s Aunty Chiaka.”

The next day, Adaku, Moses and the pastor visited Aunty Chiaka, a relative they had never visited before. When she saw them at her door, she was visibly shaken and asked, “How did you know where I live?”

The pastor introduced herself and said softly, “We are not here to fight. We’re here to ask you, please, set Adaku free.”

At first, Aunty Chiaka denied everything. But as the pastor began to pray, something shifted in the atmosphere. Tears welled in Chiaka’s eyes as she suddenly confessed: “All of Adaku’s siblings are doing well, married, with children. But my own two children, they are failures. I was jealous. I’m sorry.”

Adaku stood there, stunned. Her heart broke, not just from betrayal, but from the pain that jealousy had caused them both. Still, she chose forgiveness.

“I forgive you, Aunty,” she said quietly.

A few months later, the impossible happened.

Adaku became pregnant and not just with one child, but twin girls.

Her story is now a testimony: a tale of pain, love, spiritual battle, and unwavering hope and through it all, Moses never left her side, proving that love, backed by faith, can withstand anything.
