At 42, Tega often found herself staring at the ceiling, asking God why. She was single, childless, and while her life looked “put together” from the outside, her heart felt empty. She had spent her youth chasing success, earning degrees, serving in church and waiting faithfully for “the one.”

Her prayers felt unanswered and loneliness whispered that she had missed her moment.

“I just want to know why I’m still here, Lord,” she wept one night. “Is there even a purpose for me beyond this waiting?”

That night, something shifted. It wasn’t a loud voice or a sudden miracle, but a gentle stirring in her spirit a reminder of Jeremiah 29:11: “For I know the plans I have for you.” She didn’t have all the answers, but she decided to trust God for just one next step.

Tega began volunteering at a local shelter for teenage mothers. What started as a weekly visit became her heartbeat. She mentored, encouraged and prayed with young girls who had been abandoned, hurt or shamed. In pouring into others, Tega began to see that purpose wasn’t something far off, it was already in her hands.

Three years later, at 45, Tega met Benjamin during a Christian leadership conference. He was humble and deeply passionate about missions. They connected first through prayer, then through purpose and soon through love. Their wedding was a quiet, joyful celebration of God’s timing. Just when Tega thought the story couldn’t get better, she found out she was pregnant at 46.

Tears flowed freely the day she held her son in her arms.
